United Way of Abilene instituted the Volunteer Service award to recognize individuals for a lifetime of community service. It is given annually by a committee of prior recipients and honors one volunteer who has been dedicated in service to others in the Abilene area over the course of their career. Bolt has served as a volunteer and board member for numerous charitable organizations in the region, including the Salvation Army, West Texas Girl Scout Council, Abilene Clay Sports, and the Abilene Mental Health Association.
