The Lone Star state has no fear when it comes to jumping on board with the mobile banking trend. According to a recent survey released by SWACHA, a nonprofit payments association that serves financial institutions in Texas and surrounding states, 33% of Texans say use mobile banking on a smartphone or tablet, up from 20% in 2011. Other results that back this claim are:

  • 46% of people surveyed say they deposit checks via their smartphones
  • 25% say they envision themselves using their mobile device to deposit checks
  • 48% of smartphone users have banked with their device in the past year

In addition, more Texans are using their smartphones to check account balances (86%) and transfer money between accounts (35%). Paying bills via a smartphone is also on the rise at 41%, up from 26% in 2011.
